Naoussa, in a region of Macedonia on the eastern edge of Vermio, is the headquarters of Boutari Winery.
HISTORY
Our History
Our journey began in 1879, and with it, Greek wine was introduced to the world. We have since emerged as key players in Greek wine-making, evolving into one of the most historic Greek wineries.
Viticulture in the Naoussa area of Northern Greece is deeply rooted in the past. Our presence has been decisive, not only for the preservation of the local Xinomavro variety during times when viticulture was threatened, but also for the promotion and recognition of the variety and the Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) zone of Naoussa. This has been achieved by producing excellent and historically significant wines.
Varietal composition
In the 1980s, the cultivation of the foreign varieties Merlot and Syrah began in our vineyard, with impressive results. This evolution led to the creation of single-vineyard wines and excellent blends with Xinomavro, proving the potential of our vineyard and its future growth potential.
